IAP2 Australasia Canberra Networking Event

Getting More Out of Your Policy Engagement

Hosted by Communication Link

About the event

Join us in Canberra for an afternoon of conversation on how to get more out of your policymaking engagement.

Consultation with a range of stakeholders is an essential requirement of government policy development. Increasingly stakeholders expect to be included early in the development of new policies and initiatives.

Meaningful engagement can be a hard balancing act between policy objectives and community or stakeholder expectations. Effectively done, engagement can inform policy development that is reflective of all stakeholders needs, reducing risk and enabling timely implementation.

This event will focus on practical strategies to improve engagement in the policymaking process. Case studies will showcase the strategic value of engagement through initiatives such as the Australia's Digital ID System and proposed changes to the Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation in the ACT. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain insights on how to balance policy objectives with community expectations, leading to more effective and timely implementations.

Facilitator

Helen Leayr, Managing Director, Communication Link.
